Pendon Museum will be open at weekends, Bank Holidays and on special occasions throughout 2008.

The Museum is open each Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 5.30pm (last admissions ALL days 4.45pm) unless stated otherwise, check events page click here for details.

In addition to Pendon's own Vale of White Horse and Dartmoor miniature landscapes a special exhibition will be on display see below for details..

The Madder Valley Railway will be operating on 3 days during 2008.

Visitors should note that the viewing height of some of the exhibits is rather high for small children.

Special Events and Exhibitions in 2008

April 5th until the end of 2008 Exhibition Building in the vernacular
An exploration of local building techniques and materials with special emphasis on the buildings from the Vale of White Horse - an area where diverse materials such as brick, tiles, chalkstone, limestone and thatch are found.

August Openings

Wednesdays 11am - 5.30pm for school holidays
August 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th 

August Bank Holiday Weekend Opening 11am - 5.30pm from  August 23rd to 25th

Special Runnings of the Madder Valley Railway

In the remainder of 2008 Madder Valley will run on:  Saturday November 15th

Please note - We are open from 2pm to 5.50pm only on these Madder Valley Days.

The Madder Valley Railway was created by artist and photographer John Ahern. This charming and historically important model railway was probably the first to establish the importance of scenery to complement the trains.

It was donated to Pendon Museum and is normally on static display. However, each year the trains and track are restored to running order for a limited number of days. Recently a small number of additional buildings were discovered and these are now installed on the layout.
